Where the art actually came from…

Dad used to call us on Father’s Day to say “Hello, Happy Children’s Day!” LOL! We weren’t really mean, and he only ever did it once, and we were all busy working girls at the time. You know how it is, the older you get, the more you take little things like that for granted.
Today (sunday) is daddy’s birthday. He would’ve been 61. Strangest thing is, I just realized i was extra artsy-crafty yesterday (saturday) morning. i completed a mixed media piece that is now framed & hanging by the dining area and learned how to do that watercolor splash effect on photoshop (Thinking of blowing it up poster size once I make something truly awesome — and not narcissistic ).
I was a bit surprised at the sudden surge of art energy. I spent 40mins on my , ahem, mixed media work (glued together bits of fabric and watercolored the rest) before i framed and hung it by the dining table.
Then, I spent 30 minutes watching a tutorial online and creating that watercolor splash effect myself on Photoshop. Here are two of the three I came up with. Excuse the subject LOL

I didn’t bring any art of my dad’s or anyone else’s and I was sick of our bare walls, that anything – even a scribble from myself – would do! So I had planned to do these projects eventually, just not as quickly and as inspired as I was Saturday morn.
Figured it was dad sending me a message, “Hello it’s my birthday! here’s my gift!”
Thank you dadsie! Sure needed it! Love you!
